If you haven't used Premiere before, you're outta luck. My animosity toward Adobe's publications (not their software, which is generally excellent) began back in 2003, when I was learning Photoshop 5. Wanting the best possible instruction manuals, I bought their Classroom-in-a-Book series. Worthless. Absolutely worthless.15 years have passed, and last week I upgraded to Premiere 2018. I bought this book thinking that maybe in the last decade and a half they had finally gotten the hang of writing instruction manuals.Nope. They still suck.I wasted too much time reading this comic book to warrant spending more time in a detailed review. I'll content myself with saying that this book meets the same standards set by all of Adobe's publications that I've bought so far: poorly organized, counter-intuitive, badly balanced, but beautifully illustrated (I'll give them credit for that). The "Index" is pathetic. As either an instruction manual or a reference, this book is USELESS. The author spends most of his time "mentioning" topics instead of EXPLAINING them. If you haven't used some previous version of Premiere, you're basically out of luck. You won't learn how to use the program here.Once again, my thanks to Amazon for their generous return policy.¡Una maravilla! Excelente, llego en perfectas condiciones y a tiempo! Lo amé!Four Stars Good book

“The Champion's Mind is loaded with great lessons, advice, and perspectives on how to be successful. The skills and strategies that Jim provides here are essential in carving a path to success, no matter what field you are in or what your goals are. I can honestly say that I have lived by many of the strategies offered in this book and I can also say I wish I had lived by more of them. But it's never too late to be as good as you can be!” —Dan Jansen, Olympic gold medalist, speed skating“I learned early on in my professional baseball career that players at the elite level are generally pretty similar from the perspective of physical aptitude. Yet, what tends to differentiate the all-stars from the rest of the pack resides between the ears. Jim Afremow does a great job of exploring this subject in The Champion's Mind. This is a great book for coaches and athletes of all ages who are looking to improve performance at any level, in any sport.” —Shawn Green, two-time MLB All-Star“The Champion's Mind reveals the mental skills and strategies Olympic champions use to perform their best when it matters most. Dr. Afremow's matchless book is a must for athletes and coaches.” —Shannon Miller, Olympic gold medalist, gymnastics“The Champion's Mind is a mental training book that will help you reach your potential in sports. I highly recommend this book to all athletes and coaches.” —Jackie Slater, NFL Hall of Famer“Dr. Afremow nails all the basics and gives readers an excellent window into how a champion's mind works before and during 'the process'.” —Randy Cross, three-time Super Bowl Champion“I read this book with my eyes wide open and the content continued to keep them open at all times. Jim's advice and tips are very simple and easy to understand. Read only one chapter at a time and apply it to your approach to Tennis, Sports, and Life.” —Nick Bollettieri, Founder/President of Nick Bollettieri IMG Tennis Academy“The Champion's Mind shows you how to take your game to the next level.” —Tony Womack, MLB All-Star and World Series Champion“Dr. Afremow's training and tips have been an important part of the preparation and success of our athletes when they take the Wonderlic test at the NFL Combine. In The Champion's Mind, Dr. Afremow provides simple, yet powerfully effective strategies to help athletes and coaches reach their full potential.” —Mark Verstegen, author of Core Performance“How sweet it is to breathe that rarified air of a high performance athlete! How refreshing it is, as well, to recognize so many of the techniques in Dr. Afremow's book that get you to that privileged place. The Champion's Mind is simple, straightforward elixir for the high achiever in all of us.” —Morten Andersen, NFL's all-time leading scorer“The mind is a powerful thing. As a baseball player the more confidence I have and the more mentally prepared I am, the better I perform when it matters the most. Dr. Afremow'sbookThe Champion's Mind will help guide you to reach your potential both on and off the field!” —Travis Buck, MLB outfielder, Houston Astros“Athletes who want to learn the secrets of the mental game should read The Champion's Mind.” —Carli Lloyd, Olympic gold medalist, soccer“One can always learn from others. The Champion's Mind holds a wealth of insight as to how you can become a winner in your everyday life.” —Phil Mahre, Olympic gold medalist, Alpine skiing“It's amazing to see how Dr. Afremow points out what athletes go through every day. He describes a lot of situations that I have experienced as well. In this book, you can find a lot of simple but very useful tips and principles that might help you to improve your performance.” —Britta Heidemann, Olympic gold medalist, epee fencing“The Champion's Mind is very informative and full of great principles and guidelines for any athlete that is searching for excellence in their performance.” —Mike Candrea, three-time Olympic gold medal coach of USA softball, eight-time national champion coach of the University of Arizona women's softball team“Athletes can unlock a new level of performance by learning the power of training their mind as they train their body. From preparation to rehabilitation to competition, The Champion's Mind gives the mental guidance necessary to allow an athlete to reach their full athletic potential. Dr. Afremow's playbook for increasing mental strength gives clear direction to make the reader a better athlete, a better teammate, and a better person.” —Curt Tomasevicz, Olympic gold medalist, four-man bobsleigh“We all have an athlete in us; we were all born to run, jump, swim and compete in some way or another. The gold medal at an Olympic Games has been declared as the highest honor to reward discipline, commitment, power, strength, finesse, passion, precision, patience, speed and skill, just to name a few. You too can go for gold in all areas of your life by following Jim's strategies. Decide what you want and go after it with all you have to give, every single day. Daily acts of excellence are the secret. Choose your success today.” —Natalie Cook, Olympic gold medalist, beach volleyball“Do you want to learn how the best in the world got there? In The Champion's Mind, Jim distills a myriad of golden Olympic stories into clear tools we all can use. I am positive that you will read insights in this book that will help you rise to the top of your discipline. If you read this book you will be inspired. Choose your path, follow your path, any path worth choosing will have its ups and downs, but The Champion's Mind will help you with ideas to keep moving forward on that path. The focus you gain will help you reach the top of whatever you seek.” —Nick Hysong, Olympic gold medalist, pole vault“Dr. Afremow hits a grand slam with The Champion's Mind. Every athlete should keep a copy of this book in their locker or gym bag.” —Leah Amico, three-time Olympic gold medalist, softball Jim Afremow, PhD, is a sports psychologist and licensed counselor at Arizona State University. He has worked closely with athletes at all levels, including pros from the MLB, NBA, WNBA, NFL, NHL, PGA Tour, and LPGA Tour, as well as business professionals, performing artists, and others in demanding careers. He lives in Phoenix.

Even among the most elite performers, certain athletes stand out as a cut above the rest, able to outperform in clutch, game-deciding moments. These athletes prove that raw athletic ability doesn't necessarily translate to a superior on-field experience—its the mental game that matters most.

Sports participation—from the recreational to the collegiate Division I level—is at an all-time high. While the caliber of their games may differ, athletes at every level have one thing in common: the desire to excel. In The Champion's Mind, sports psychologist Jim Afremow, PhD, offers the same advice he uses with Olympians, Heisman Trophy winners, and professional athletes, including:

• How to get in a "zone," thrive on a team, and stay humble
• How to progress within a sport and sustain long-term excellence
• Customizable pre-performance routines to hit full power when the gun goes off or the puck is dropped

With hundreds of useful tips, breakthrough science, and cutting-edge workouts from the world's top trainers, The Champion's Mind will help you shape your body to ensure a longer, healthier, happier lifetime.

Too Cliche This book is simply a large compilation of cliches. If you've ever read sports books or had a few motivating coaches in your life, you'd probably encountered a lot of this speech. This book offered nothing profound. It is a bunch of self-talk that is repetitive and delivers the same message.Great Wisdom for Athletes Want to improve your athletic performance without working out more, then get this book by Jim Afremow. I almost did not want to review this book since it has so much solid and practical advise for improving the mental side of athletic performance.Every chapter is backed by research and he includes exercises to practice every performance tip.I first became aware of this book when I read an article in Self magazine about pro golfer Michelle Wie. She talks about how the principles in this book have helped her game. Some of the topics covered include:Self talkSelf confidenceFocusBreath control to calm down or pump upDealing with anxietyPositive affirmationsChampion leaderPure-race and post race routinesDealing with mental errorsFocus on what you can controlI read this book at the beginning of my triathlon season this year. I have been able to bounce back much better after a bad race than I have in the past. One of the things I worked with on my coach in the last year was focusing on the things I could control. One of the things my coach does is pre race planning and post race analysis. After every race she has taught me to ask three questions that Afremow also discusses in this book:What did I do that was good? What needs to get better? What changes should I make to become my best? The goal is always to learn from experience, not repeat mistakes, visualize success and improve performance.Afremow states his goals for any athlete using the skills outlined are to:Train with passion and purposeAchieve victory through variety in training exercisesBelieve they are worth the time it takes to exerciseFind support and encouragementBreak work into manageable piecesKeep an exercise workout calendarTreat themselves like a championThere is a mental toughness quiz to assess strengths and weakness. Then you can decide which of the strategies will be your top priority. The book is well worth the time of any athlete looking to improve performance.Chris WodkeAuthor: Running for My Life, Winning for CMTFantastic book packed with Big Ideas “Champion yourself. We all experience similar struggles and deal with demanding challenges in our pursuit of excellence, regardless of the sport or fitness activity. To be a champion, your true best self becomes key to personal and athletic greatness. You know, as we all do, that only those performers who think gold and never settle for silver will continue to strive for and reach their highest, or gold, level. A champion makes greatness happen, despite what may seem impossible odds.Of course most of us are not Olympians or professional athletes. But all of us can acquire a champion’s mind-set. Any athlete can learn to think like a champion. Every one of us can be peak performers in the game of life by achieving our own personal best. We can strive to be the best version of ourselves. It is possible for us to stay ‘professional’ whenever adversity strikes. It is possible to ingrain mental fortitude that drives us forward. And it is possible to take a championship approach.”x~ Jim Afremow from The Champion’s MindJim Afremow is one of the world’s leading sports psychologists who works with some of the top performers in all major sports. This is a great book—a collection of bite-size Big Ideas on how we can develop our Champion’s Mind covering everything from goal setting, visualization and self-talk to breath control, confidence and mental toughness. As I’ve mentioned in other Notes in our growing collection of sports +mental toughness books, I love sports books because sports are such a great metaphor for life.As Afremow puts it, we can all be “Peak performers in the game of life.”We can all be Champions. Here’s a fun little fact: Did you know the word champion comes from the medieval Latin campio(n-) which means “fighter”?Yep—which immediately makes me think of winning the ultimate combat Socrates talks about in The Gorgias: “I desire only to know the truth, and to live as well as I can... And, to the utmost of my power, I exhort all other men to do the same... I exhort you also to take part in the great combat, which is the combat of life, and greater than every other earthly conflict.”I'm excited to share some of my favorite Big Ideas:1. The Vision - of a Champion2. Mental Toughness - Let's define it.3. Ugly buy Effective - + God bad days.4. Sand in Your Hand - Squeeze it just right.5. Good, Better, Best- How to evaluate performance. Here’s to winning the ultimate fight and becoming Champions of our lives!More goodness— including PhilosophersNotes on 300+ books in our *OPTIMIZE* membership program. The Self-Esteem Workbook (A New Harbinger Self-Help Workbook) Pdf

ISBN: 1626255938
Title: The Self-Esteem Workbook (A New Harbinger Self-Help Workbook) Pdf
Author: Glenn R. Schiraldi
Published Date: 2016-11-01
Page: 240

People of all ages, backgrounds, and circumstances struggle with low self-esteem. This long-awaited, fully revised second edition of the best-selling The Self-Esteem Workbook includes up-to-date information on brain plasticity, and new chapters on forgiveness, mindfulness, and cultivating lovingkindness and compassion.

If your self-esteem is based solely on performance—if you view yourself as someone who’s worthy only when you’re performing well or acknowledged as doing a good job—the way you feel about yourself will always depend on external factors. Your self-esteem affects everything you do, so if you feel unworthy or your confidence is shaped by others, it can be a huge problem.

With this second edition of The Self-Esteem Workbook, you’ll learn to see yourself through loving eyes by realizing that you are inherently worthy, and that comparison-based self-criticism is not a true measure of your value. In addition to new chapters on cultivating compassion, forgiveness, and unconditional love for yourself and others—all of which improve self-esteem—you’ll find cutting-edge information on brain plasticity and how sleep, exercise, and nutrition affect your self-esteem.

Developing and maintaining healthy self-esteem is key for living a happy life, and with the new research and exercises you’ll find in this updated best-selling workbook, you’ll be ready to start feeling good about yourself and finally be the best that you can be.

Give it a chance It has lots of exercise. They help change the way you may think of yourself. Gives messages to say to yourself to get rid of the negative ones that are present now.Not really practical Nothing in this book that isn't already common sense. Take care of yourself. Get some sleep. Get some exercise. Eat better. Well, no kidding, really? Right away it has you read all kinds dietary info that seems Greek to me. With this info it wants you to draw up your own diet. The whole thing just seems so out of touch with the realities of true low esteem. I reckon that people who find this book helpful are not truly struggling with low self esteem. The more one thinks about it, the more one has to doubt that any workbook could actually do anything for anyone.Another book for the donation pile.Very helpful I have only read through chapter 3 right now, but I have learned a lot from this book. However, I think the book is only effective if you are ready for change.

Needed for class Well laid out and informative book. Amazon Rental really helped with saving the cost of college. This book was in great to brand new condition.Books for college Book for my granddaughterEasy read for intro/very basic course only Needed for an undergrad business course. Textbook confuses ethics and law as always asking “was it ethical?” Ethics briefly mentioned in one of last chapters, but not very well. Easy read for intro/very basic course only.
