Title: Tell Your Children Pdf The Truth About Marijuana, Mental Illness, and Violence
An eye-opening report from an award-winning author and former New York Times reporter reveals the link between teenage marijuana use and mental illness, and a hidden epidemic of violence caused by the drug—facts the media have ignored as the United States rushes to legalize cannabis.

Recreational marijuana is now legal in nine states. Almost all Americans believe the drug should be legal for medical use. Advocates argue cannabis can help everyone from veterans to cancer sufferers. But legalization has been built on myths– that marijuana arrests fill prisons; that most doctors want to use cannabis as medicine; that it can somehow stem the opiate epidemic; that it is not just harmless but beneficial for mental health. In this meticulously reported book, Alex Berenson, a former New York Times reporter, explodes those myths:

• Almost no one is in prison for marijuana;
• A tiny fraction of doctors write most authorizations for medical marijuana, mostly for people who have already used;
• Marijuana use is linked to opiate and cocaine use. Since 2008, the US and Canada have seen soaring marijuana use and an opiate epidemic. Britain has falling marijuana use and no epidemic;
• Most of all, THC—the chemical in marijuana responsible for the drug’s high—can cause psychotic episodes. After decades of studies, scientists no longer seriously debate if marijuana causes psychosis.

Psychosis brings violence, and cannabis-linked violence is spreading. In the four states that first legalized, murders have risen 25 percent since legalization, even more than the recent national increase. In Uruguay, which allowed retail sales in July 2017, murders have soared this year.

Berenson’s reporting ranges from the London institute that is home to the scientists who helped prove the cannabis-psychosis link to the Colorado prison where a man now serves a thirty-year sentence after eating a THC-laced candy bar and killing his wife. He sticks to the facts, and they are devastating.

With the US already gripped by one drug epidemic, this book will make readers reconsider if marijuana use is worth the risk.

This is just the beginning of investigating the downsides of marijuana commercialization This book does an excellent job of examining the link between cannabis use, mental illness and violence. Many cannabis advocates claim that cannabis makes you chill, and for many users that is undoubtedly true. But for many other users, it causes paranoia and triggers underlying psychosis which can lead to all manner of bad outcomes including violence. Although the media hasn't really explored the links until this book, it is troubling that many of the most notorious terrorists and mass murderers of our time were heavy cannabis users including Timothy McVeigh, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, Denver bomber James Holmes, Jodi Arias, many of the recent terrorists in Europe and many more. You can say that "correlation does not prove causation," but the correlations that his book exposes are too extensive to ignore. It makes a compelling case that more research is required before rushing into commercialization of this drug.Perhaps even more importantly, we are ignoring the negative societal effects of pot use, particularly in vulnerable people and communities. People from solid backgrounds can often smoke pot and still function as productive citizens. These people often don't see the negative effects it has on people and communities without resources and privilege. I went to high school in a rural, lower income town in the 1970's, and 40 years later, everyone I knew who smoked pot in high school is either dead or in a very bad place. You can say "correlation doesn't prove causation" all you want, but you do so at the risk of ignoring the huge amount of evidence and red flags out there.Thank you to the author for being willing to withstand the blowback from cannabis advocates and profiteers who vilify and intimidate anyone who dares to explore the downside of marijuana commercialization. The public needs to know all the facts and more research needs to be done.Inform just how dangerous Marijuana use by teens really is Marijuana is now big business that is being hyped everyday by those who are currently involved in the development of Big Marijuana. Big Tobacco & Big Alcohol are very happy they can now lobby to promote another addictive product with the support of many people who are unaware of the health and safety risks that marijuana will have on our teens mental health, the problems now with marijuana addiction, and the consequential effects this will all have on our long-term health and safety as the marijuana for profit lobby continues to use propaganda techniques that Big Tobacco use to employ to convince the general public that cigarettes were completely safe to use. If you dismiss the information in this book easily can you honestly say that you are not using marijuana, dependent on using it psychologically and do not have a financial motive to ignore the truth and look away. Anytime there is an irrational rush to socially accept and legalize a drug for social use and also wrap that social drug around the ruse as being a medicine that claims to cure just about everything that ails you--this should be a huge red flag to Stop and slow down the frenetic race to normalize another harmful drug. What has happened with marijuana is an experiential example of irrational behaviors that blind the public with cash, profit, and very high financial incentives. It's a shotgun approach toward acceptance and legalization not only will this magical drug cure you of any disorder you may have it can also be used to get you stoned and make you rich if you only invest in the absurd pyramid styled scam that is being programmed into you everyday now. The absurdity and irrationality is so blatant it is blinding.There is truth in this book As I read the comments, "shut-up" "this is pseudo-science" and more, I am appalled at the unwillingness to critically and objectively examine the authors research and arguments. It harkens back to the days when the dangers of cigarettes were thought to be hawked by a bunch of crazies, when of course, there couldn't have been any inherent dangers!Clearly, there is still much to continue researching in the debate on pot use and mental illness but the evidence is beyond compelling and other countries, notably Great Britain, are light years ahead in looking at the link between marijuana usage, mental illness and violence.I am an educated woman who happens to be a mother to a now 29 year old son whose life has absolutely been devastated by his marijuana use and now addiction. My son went to a top university where he was an All-American athlete, and was working for Ameri-Corps teaching under privileged children in New Mexico post graduation. He was planning on pursuing his PHD and dedicate himself to fighting and fixing the injustices in the education system. My son showed ZERO symptoms of any mental illness, was living with his girlfriend and was extremely well-liked. He was sensitive, intelligent, kind and always fought for the underdog in a gentle and loving manner.I will spare many of the details, but at age 24 my son had his first psychotic break and it was only then that we learned about his marijuana use. One may think in reading this; I'm a heart-broken mother, and that's what this is all about - one who can't face the fact her son is mentally ill. I have dedicated myself to learning and understanding ALL I can about my son's journey and illness. My son has now had 17 hospitalizations, been homeless on the streets for months at at time, been in jail and shown absolute signs of violence. It is just a matter of time. Doctor after doctor in the psych wards knows the link between marijuana and psychosis as do the devastated parents I've met in the hospitals. This is NOT just mental illness or depression. I do not know, nor do scientists yet, the link between the "pre-disposed" brain with genetic links to mental illness and marijuana use. But my sons journey has 100% been certainly impacted, and I may daresay CAUSED by marijuana. There is no family history on either side of mental illness and nothing explains the propensity towards violence.People, parents and everyone in general - wake up. This is not hysteria or anything close. I am an extremely open-minded individual who leans heavily liberal to many and most causes. This is a dire warning, and yes, especially for adolescents who, as the author explains, are at huge risk because of their developing brains. At this point, we have been unable to help our son who, as the latest lawyer says, will most likely spend the rest of his life in the penal system unless a miracle appears.Pay attention - this is real.

Good Book I ordered this book for two reasons one my best friend has to be on a heart healthy diet, and on my dad's side of the family has a lot of heart problems do I wanted to stop from getting one.... I did rent heart healthy cook books from the library, but 90% of them had pork ham bacon and sausage recipes and I can't eat these because I'm allergic to them, but this book isn't like that it's filled with stuff I can eat. I haven't cooked out of it yet, but my best friends daughter has a diet doctor who says this book is promising.Great book--wishing for photos of the prepared dishes! HUGE selection of recipes sure to fit anyone's tastes, but no photos!!!! Photos offer such an inspiration to make a dish, and I miss those so much!!! I would've paid more for the book had they included those. Maybe they were trying to keep the costs down. If so, I can respect that, for sure. It's a very thick book and if you don't need photos, there's a ton here. If you need photos, you might be disappointed.Made all the difference My wife and I ordered this cookbook as soon as I was released from the hospital. I had had a heart attack at age 58, and healthier eating--low-fat, low-cholesterol, low-sodium, smaller portions--was on the menu. It has now been more than six weeks, and we have eaten about 90 percent of our meals from this book. People ask me, "what do you miss most?" and I have nothing to say. The recipes have yielded such tasty meals that I truly never think about the fact that I'm not getting the salt or fat I was so used to.I recommend this book to anyone who needs or wants to eat healthy food. My wife did not have a heart attack, but she has chosen to eat exactly what I eat (and is losing weight, as I am, because of it) and is enjoying the food every bit as much as I am.Get this cookbook as soon as you can.
